Glenn Martin joins board of braaap Motorcycles

braaap Motorcycles has appointed Glenn Martin, founder of Martin Aircraft and inventor of the Martin Jetpack, to its board of directors. This appointment is the first of several steps the company is taking as it implements its international growth strategy.
Martin says he was attracted to braaap primarily by the passion of the founder and core team.
"I was astounded that a small Aussie company had developed a range of excellent motorcycles, seemingly under the noses of the larger players. I immediately felt that there must be something special about braaap and wanted to find out more. Since I have moved on from developing Jetpacks I have been approached by a number of companies about helping them. I wanted to be involved in a company with a clear and simple vision. A company run by people who have demonstrated integrity, passion and commitment. A company where my 34 years of developing Jetpacks and growing a company to an IPO stage would be helpful.”
braaap CEO Brad Smith is very excited about what this appointment will bring to the company he founded 10 years ago.
“It was important for us to secure a highly successful entrepreneur who has been there and done it before," Smith said. "Glenn has had great success as he grew his company through to its highly successful IPO and that’s a skill set we can learn a lot from.
“Results talk, Glenn has not only innovated and created a mechanical product that had to overcome huge odds but he has also successfully negotiated many commercial deals. He has seen the highs and lows of growth and is a strong personality who holds our leadership team accountable to producing high level results. We can’t buy the wisdom and battle scars that Glenn has but he also brings a significant amount of credibility.
"To have Glenn’s belief in braaap is humbling and just another reference point for investors and consumers that braaap is punching above its weight and is an exciting company to be a part of. Glenn brings to braaap the disciplines, guidance and strategy required to ensure we navigate the growth curve required to be a world class company.”
braaap Motorcycles was founded in 2005 by Smith, a former Young Australian of the Year, to make motorcycling more accessible and affordable to the masses so that more people could enjoy what he loves about motorcycling. The company has won many awards including being named four times as Small Business of the Year by the Australian Retailers Association, and back to back (2012 and 2013) motorcross world championships at the MimimotoSX in Las Vegas.
