An annual event based in Hamilton, managed by SODA Inc. and powered by Wintec, the SODA Inc. Innes48 Startup Competition draws hundreds of national and international participants to compete for up to $15,000 in prize money over one high energy, high pressure 48 hours.

The largest competition of its kind in New Zealand, Innes48 is an experiential environment for people to test their entrepreneurial skills, experience new things, get exposure and interact with top business mentors, influencers and like-minded people from a wide range of backgrounds and skills.

Named after Mary Jane Innes, one of Hamilton’s pioneering female entrepreneurs, Innes48 reflects broadly what New Zealand business looks like across age, gender, ethnicity and energy. It’s a fail fast, learn fast experience that packs a lot into one action-packed dynamic weekend that puts business ideas under the spotlight. For competitors, it’s an opportunity for greatness where they experience just what it takes to work under pressure and make their business ideas reality.

Over the 48 hours, teams hear from inspirational speakers about their success, failures and learnings as an entrepreneur and attend workshops to help understand the process of developing a business to apply to their idea. At the end of the competition, the top six teams pitch their newly created business to an audience of over 250 people and a panel of judges, with the hope of becoming the winner of either the Most Viable Business, Most Innovative Idea and Best Pitch.
