The latest in a string of start-up acquisitions, Weirdly an enduring HRTech start-up has been bought by INSIDE Recruitment.

INSIDE works with some of the country’s biggest (and most-loved) companies as well as several large public sector departments. CEO, Troy Turner announced the move today saying it’s the next logical step for an organisation dedicated to raising the bar.

“Challenging economies are when you see industry-shifting ideas come to life. INSIDE is grabbing that idea by the horns and, by adding Weirdly’s powerful technology to the group, we’re poised to bring some exciting projects to New Zealand as the year progresses.

“The truth is, recruitment is changing but not necessarily the way some predicted it might. The common element is that people are very much in focus. Technology is no longer an add-on. It’s critical for ensuring a journey that is smooth, engaging and beautiful – not just efficient. Weirdly balances this so beautifully.”

Weirdly launched in 2014, delivering a bold new approach to recruitment.

“Our obsession was making recruitment more personal. Allowing people to show off what makes them unique during the application process, while giving companies the ability to instantly sort through hundreds of applications to find the people who align with the organisation’s purpose and values,” says Weirdly co-founder and CEO, Dale Clareburt.

Weirdly quickly grew beyond New Zealand’s shores, ultimately setting up offices in Sydney and Melbourne and adding brands like Domino’s, Kmart and Target to their roster of users.

Clareburt is quick to note this acquisition signals a “watch this space” for Weirdly, rather than a goodbye.

“Weirdly’s not going away. Our powerful suite of hiring tools will still be helping drive recruitment for some of ANZ’s biggest companies while we continue to develop some ambitious new initiatives under INSIDE’s leadership.”

The teams at Super Retail Group (including trans-tasman brands like Macpac, SuperCheapAuto and BCF), as well as locals Skycity and JBhifi will continue to use Weirdly’s platform to manage their recruitment under the new ownership structure. A loyalty the INSIDE team are dedicated to supporting.

“We’re so excited to bring this innovative technology in under our banner, continuing to support the existing clientbase and enabling innovation in our own offerings. It’s injected a refreshing dose of optimism in what’s been a really challenging time for so many people in the employment world,” adds Turner.
