Amy Lee Summers has launched New Zealand’s first, and what her technology team call “the world’s first successful” augmented reality fitness app Amy Lee Fit.
Possibly New Zealand’s biggest social media influencer with a combined following of 1.2 million spanning the world, Amy’s app was the result of a series of strategic projects.
Starting out in modelling but with the desire to break into the fitness industry, Amy needed to build up her industry credentials, which she did by entering into one of the world’s biggest body building competitions in Las Vegas earlier this year.
In four months of grueling training, Amy won first prize, earning her bodybuilding pro-card. Documenting her training and dieting journey, Amy successfully created the pretext to launching the app.
Amy Lee Fit is an augmented reality (AR) enabled fitness and lifestyle app, available on Android and iOS and provides subscribers a luxurious and unique user experience with access to a selection of lifestyle and fitness aids, including an innovative AR video fitness interface which sees Amy performing each exercise.
“I started working on creating an AR app over a year ago starting with just fitness. But as we moved on, it made sense to add in special features such as recipes and customised fitness and nutritional plans to make it a one-stop-shop for a lifestyle overhaul,” says Summers.
“From the beginning, Amy had a vision about what she wanted, understood her fan base, and was very open to applying new technology in a practical way. There is a lot of hype around about AR and 3D and it is nice to be able to work with someone who is practical and focused on its value beyond just the novelty,” says Michael Hurle, creator and chief executive of Ditto NZ.
The upcoming feature will include Amy Lee’s Fitness Apparel in AR, offering users a full 360 3D imagery of the clothing available. Ihe garments can be viewed from all angles to see the fit, cut and shape of each item of clothing.
“This is the new way to shop,” says Summers.
