Awards for those who back business

Individuals or organisations that make life better for businesses could be in for an award.
The Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards 2010 acknowledge organisations and individuals that make life better for business owners by providing quality products and services.
Those who wish to pay tribute to a person or organisation that has helped them achieve success in their business have until 4 December to make their nominations.
Brainchild of Bizzone, the Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards were created to encourage a culture of excellence among organisations that support business. 
With nine award categories, any organisation with a quality offering to business is eligible to enter. “Your business may be large or small, private, government sector or not-for-profit; there is an award for every category,” says Sarah Trotman, Bizzone managing director. “This year we want the whole of New Zealand to get involved and we have created new categories to celebrate the tremendous business support available throughout New Zealand.”
"We believe the future competitiveness of New Zealand business lies in quality and providing a key ‘point of difference’," says Roger Bell, chief executive of Vero, the awards’ foundation sponsor. "We are looking for exceptional organisations and people for these awards and I am confident the 2010 nominations will be as outstanding as in other years."
Last year’s Supreme Winner, the Ministry of Economic Development’s Insolvency and Trustee Service delivered a complex and innovative online solution that was the first major change to insolvency law in over 40 years. It has significantly reduced compliance costs for businesses in New Zealand which was key to its success as the Vero Supreme Winner.
Another 2009 winner, Andy Hamilton from The ICEHOUSE, says he found the Vero awards process very validating. “The documentation required that we bring together the evidence behind many years of work across all areas of our business. It allowed us to step back and see the results as a whole, highlighting real contributions to a quantifiable number of entrepreneurs and business owners since our beginnings in 2001. It is a demanding process that enabled conversations about lessons learned and future directions. Most of all, it allowed us to celebrate how far we had come.”

Winners are selected by evaluators from the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation, a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation committed to improving the performance and capability of organisations by promoting and utilising a best practice business performance excellence framework, based on established international criteria.
The awards will be announced at a Black Tie Gala Dinner on the 20th May 2010 and entries close on the 4th December 2009. Entries are encouraged from those who have made a difference by introducing products, services or even ideas to the busy business owner.
