The sub-heading for Jim Huse’s book Revolutionise the Way You Work is “to realise your full potential”. It shows how you can use Microsoft Outlook to manage your work, day and business and substantially increase your efficiency and productivity. Huse has a background in psychology and business improvement. He combines these elements into a book that not only looks at the technical aspects of Outlook but also how it can match peoples’ needs.
The book is available in three versions covering Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010, and there are two main sections: the daily use of Outlook for calendar, email and contacts; and a deeper look into how different kinds of people work. The latter covers how you can best improve your effectiveness and make better use of your talents and those of your employees.
This book is easy to follow. Readers should come away with a number of new ideas and a different way of organising their inbox. For example, Huse believes that, just like an ‘in-tray’, once an email is dealt with it should be moved elsewhere. Why not have a ‘dealt with’ folder?
