Cloud computing in New Zealand has been widely available for several years. Its adoption has been rapid amongst large corporates. Many enterprises have looked to the cloud to address their email, storage, file sharing and web applications’ needs. However, Small to Medium Businesses (SMB) have been more cautious to embrace the shift.

“There are many benefits beyond simply lower IT costs. These benefits are now filtering down to SMBs,” says Jack Talbot, General Manager, ICONZ.

A snapshot of SMBs’ cloud adoption overseas:

  • 55% of UK SMBs use cloud-based applications for hosting services. The uptake on other cloud-based solutions; backup (42%), hosted e-mails (41%), data storage (41%) and e-commerce booking systems (23%).
