Human rights law is playing an increasing role in employment disputes in recent years.  Employers’ exposure to financial and reputation risks has increased considerably due to these extra claims against them and there impacts on employment law claims.

Join us and learn the legislation framework governing human rights issues, how it relates to your employment relationships and the serious financial repercussions it is having on some kiwi businesses.

Michael Witt, the Senior Solicitor of EMA Legal, will present a short and sharp presentation on the knowhow and must-dos for when you are confronted with a human rights complaint. Mr Witt will cover how to respond to the different types of discrimination, which jurisdiction they belong to and how to handle the claims so they don’t get out of hand.

This is a serious issue compounding personal grievance (PG) claims so get up-to-date and learn about:

  • How to respond to the Human Rights Commission when faced with a complaint
  • How you could be unwittingly inviting complaints through simple recruitment processes and daily interactions with your staff
  • What is proper process? Case examples and how they could have been dealt with differently
  • Employees’ rights and how they affect your internal communications
  • How human rights law is radically changing employment law process and tarrifs
  • Avoiding privacy breaches and making sure you’re not the next Colin Craig – $168,000 breach!!

If you are a decision-maker, human resource manager or other senior leader, this seminar is a must-do before this issue hits your desk.
