Nathan Donaldson’s winning team at app and software development company Boost has taken out the Wellington Gold Awards’ Team Gold prize.
Known for being the happiest place to work in Wellington, the company, also a leader in the agile coaching market, launched back in 2000, and has made some important ‘pivots’ over its 19 years.
An instrumental influence in positive change for the business was the introduction of WorldBlu principles that founder Nathan Donaldson discovered eight years ago.
WorldBlu promotes a freedom-centred workplace that encourages people at work to be trusted to do their job, and to make decisions that affect their work.
This simple change from a ‘command and control’ model to giving people free empowerment at work has turned the company into a productivity power-house, with exceptionally happy people to match.
The award was accepted by the team at the Wellington Gold Awards gala evening, with agile coach Rebecca Jones thanking the organisers of the event, and adding a cheeky recruitment pitch, “we’re hiring, so see us at table 68” at the end.
Boost was the cover story in the June 2019 issue of NZBusiness.
