With New Zealand being one of the most franchised countries in the world with an estimated 631 franchisors and 37,000 business units throughout the country, there is one thing they have in common: a willingness to set competition aside and draw together at the Franchise Association of New Zealand’s annual conference.
This year’s event is appropriately themed ‘Shifting Gears: Prospering in a Changing World’. The conference features speakers from some of the country’s most successful franchise operators across a range of industries who will share their experiences, knowledge and insights, challenging attendees to contemplate what ‘shifting gears’ means – and how to position one’s franchise to prosper.
In addition, FANZ is calling in expertise from the US where, due to the sheer scale of franchises, very interesting perspectives can be gained.
Scheduled for 30 June to 2 July, the event takes place at Hamilton’s Claudelands Event Centre. The conference will be emceed by brand consultant and entrepreneur Cassie Roma who will also set the scene on understanding your modern media landscape and brand strategy. Cassie will be the opening keynote.
FANZ is excited to “zoom in” international franchisor Ed Quinlan, the founder of Chem-Dry which is the world’s largest carpet, upholstery, tile and wood cleaning company. Quinlan will share his thoughts on creating a franchise system that adapts in an ever-changing marketplace.
In addition to Quinlan’s keynote speech, delegates will hear from Michelle van Gaalen, MD of Smith & Smith Glass, a director of Laser Plumbing & Electrical, and a director of Kiwi Insurance Limited. She discusses her experiences and viewpoints of the changing role of leaders in today’s world.
Hairdressing legends Rodney Wayne CEO Julie Evans and brand developer Lachlan McPherson will share the Rodney Wayne experience in the digital world and how the Rodney Wayne brand stays relevant in today’s world.
Arif Khan, CEO of Restaurant Brands will share how the Pizza Hut brand has transformed to give modern pizza consumers what they want, when they want it – and how Pizza Hut evolved its business model to win in a hyper-competitive quick service restaurant landscape.
A notable new addition to the format is the ‘Peer Facilitated Franchise Session’ where franchise panelists will discuss issues and share learnings, relevant to the age and stage of the franchise journey.
So, whether you are new to franchising or long-time established, there will be a session to spark your interest. “Get ready, get enthused and register to be enlightened with peer knowledge and experiences,” is the advice.
2019 New Zealander of the Year, Mike King will provide a thought-provoking finish to the conference, as he emphasises awareness on the fact that for a business to truly prosper, mental health is key. King will round off the conference with his insightful ‘Conquering the Inner Critic’ presentation.
Attendance is open to Franchise Association members and non-members. FANZ encourages and welcomes, all franchisors and key support staff to attend. For more information or to register, visit http://conference.franchiseassociation.org.nz/.
