Wellington-based AI developer Arcanum AI has begun its international expansion with the opening of its first overseas office in Melbourne, Australia.

Founded in 2016, Arcanum AI has been building and integrating AI solutions for SMBs across the region, helping businesses amplify their potential and operational efficiency.

The Kiwi tech company is only one of a select few companies globally supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global technology and cloud provider playing a large role in its expansion.

CEO and Founder Asa Cox says he is excited by the expansion.

“It was the right time in our company’s journey – and more significantly for the Australian market – for us to expand across the ditch,” he says.

“The need to increase productivity by freeing up the time spent on manual repetitive tasks is huge, as companies need to find innovative and economical ways to grow and scale as they enter the new financial year.”

At the end of last year, Arcanum and AWS announced a 3-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement to support the tech business’ expansion from New Zealand into Australia and then eventually the United States.

This closely followed the launch of their first Generative AI powered Assistant Archie earlier in the year designed to help improve the cashflow of SMBs.

“Now that Archie has established his presence in New Zealand and is helping SMBs and accountants to get more done with their time, Arcanum are motivated to bring this solution to a larger market,” Cox says.

Cox says that AI-powered Finance Assistant Archie will be superpowered in the coming weeks with new conversational capabilities, enabling users to interact with him and ask questions in a more secure and specific way than you could with ChatGPT.

Later this year, Archie will also be able to help drastically improve cashflow by being able to carry out Accounts Receivable tasks too.

Jayson Satya, has been appointed as the Melbourne based Chief Revenue officer to lead the growth of the business. Satya brings 15+ years of experience working in high growth SaaS businesses and with accountants as channel partners.

“I’ve seen first-hand the pain business owners endure on a daily basis with manual back- office operations. They didn’t get into business to do invoice processing or chasing payments, they want their time back so they can focus on their passion and grow their business,” he says.

“We have firsthand experience of Archie’s ability to quickly adapt and boost productivity for small and medium-sized businesses, so we look forward to seeing how he can help many more SMBs supercharge their growth.”

This is set to be a big year for Arcanum and AI technology as fear starts to subside and in it’s place the understanding of the potential that generative AI has to help Kiwi and Australian businesses grow.
