Noel Leeming is celebrating its Christchurch heritage with the re-opening of its Moorhouse Ave store after a $1 million facelift.

The revamped Moorhouse Ave store offers the people of Christchurch the company’s most innovative and state-of-the-art retail space to date. The company’s first store was opened in Christchurch in 1973 by Mr Noel Leeming and has since grown to be New Zealand’s number one consumer electronics and appliances retailer.
Unique features of the new store include: a brand new Services hub; smart home display; next generation Built in Cooking Centre including a Fisher and Paykel area for customers to visualise products as they would appear in their home; and a world-leading Sonos wall display wi-fi speaker technology system for the home.
Noel Leeming CEO Tim Edwards says that this is the biggest store refurbishment project the company has ever carried out and will give the people of Christchurch a number of firsts.
“Christchurch holds a special place in our history and we’ve come a long way since the VCRs and bulky colour televisions on which the business was founded. Today, customers can come into store and see how to use their smartphones to control things like lighting in their home, escape to a Virtual Reality world and experience new places in 360 degrees without actually travelling there,” says Edwards.
“Our new-look services hub means customers can interact with our specialist service team members in a dedicated zone. We don’t just let a customer walk out the door, leaving it up to them to work out their purchase, we’re here to help them get the most out of their purchase. Plus at our connected solutions hub, we can help customers connect their devices through mobile or broadband,” says Mr Edwards.
