Inspired by the legendary triumph of David over Goliath, The David Awards celebrate New Zealand’s small businesses; the agile, resilient “Davids” who take on challenges with courage, creativity and unwavering belief. The Awards recognise five core qualities of successful entrepreneurs: Courage, Tenacity, Ingenuity, Excellence and Authenticity, the modern-day “stones” that empower small businesses to punch above their weight and compete with the giants.

Since 2008, The David Awards have stood in the corner of New Zealand’s small business owners — the ‘Davids’ who prove every day that punch-above-their-weight tenacity is the backbone of our economy. For nearly two decades, the Awards have shone a spotlight on their achievements, provided a trusted benchmark for success, and helped build credibility, influence, and momentum for entrepreneurs across the country.

Now, The David Awards enter their next chapter.

NZBusiness is proud to take on the role of Official Steward, building on a long-standing relationship with the Awards dating back to their inception. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to championing New Zealand’s small business community and recognising the entrepreneurs whose achievements embody excellence, courage, ingenuity, tenacity, and authenticity.

As Steward, NZBusiness is responsible for supporting the ongoing growth and delivery of The David Awards, while carefully safeguarding the independence, integrity, and ethos that have defined the programme for nearly 20 years.

Together, The David Awards and NZBusiness look forward to uncovering and celebrating the next generation of outstanding New Zealand entrepreneurs.
