An enterprising new business has taken out the top spot in this year’s The David Awards: heroes in small business.

Identify Marketing & Consultants took out both the Most Outstanding Fledgling Business and the Most Outstanding Lifestyle Business categories, before being named the Supreme winner of the 2016 The David Awards: Heroes in Small Business..

“The fact that a Fledgling category entrant took out the Supreme Award this year is testimony to Identify Marketing & Consulting’s clear vision and strong execution,” comments judge Pam Martin.

Another judge, Glenn Baker, agrees: “This year’s David Awards will be remembered not only for the high calibre and high diversity of entries; but also for the fact that the Supreme Winner was a fledgling business. This is a ‘first’ for the awards and is testimony to how quickly a new enterprise can get up to speed when it is resourced, managed and planned accordingly. And, of course, it requires a large amount of commitment, passion and hard work by the owner. “

Identify owner Rachel Klaver took on the goliath of New Zealand’s small business landscape when she launched her Hibiscus Coast-based agency in April 2015.  Armed with passion, persistence and a clear vision, Rachel opened her lounge room doors for business with no clients, no office and no staff.

“I’m so honoured to be acknowledged in this way. Our rapid growth has been made possible by the outstanding work of the team and our awesome clients who have had faith in us. In a sense we are growing our business alongside our clients, so their success is our success too”, says Rachel.

For the past nine years The David Awards have been recognising the unsung heroes in home and small businesses throughout New Zealand – the Kiwi ‘Davids’ taking on the Goliaths of the New Zealand business landscape. The Awards entry and judging process is conducted entirely online and attracts a diverse range of businesses from all over New Zealand.
