On Friday 10th March, seven up and coming entrepreneurs will compete at the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards for the opportunity to take their businesses to the next level.
The GSEA is a competition where entrepreneurs, who attend university, present their businesses alongside their peers and learn from people who have launched their own successful businesses. Not only do they have the opportunity to win some awesome prizes that will help their businesses excel, the ultimate winner also gets the opportunity to present their business at the APAC Regional Finals in Jakarta, Indonesia and the Global Finals in Frankfurt, Germany.
There are many ‘student in business’ success stories; one of the most successful, of course, being Facebook. From humble beginnings in a US college dorm room, Facebook now employs nearly 16,000 people and continues to dominate today’s online environment, having revolutionised the way people communicate. The GSEA is an opportunity for a promising young entrepreneur and their business to get a foot up, and – who knows – maybe become the next big thing.
This year’s competition features businesses across a range of industries, from technology and education to sports and hospitality and come from Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
The seven finalists that will be competing in the GSEA are just some of the business leaders and employers of tomorrow. With the right mentorship, recognition, and connections they will continue to develop businesses that are bigger and better. They will be the ones to change the face of business as we know it. In fact, research shows that jobs will continue to transform into the future and it is expected that 65% of today’s school children will be employed in jobs that have not yet been created.
The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards will be held on Friday 10th March from 2pm to 6pm, at the ASB building in Auckland’s Viaduct. Entry is free with a ticket. For tickets contact Helene Hunt at [email protected]
