The Kiwi co-author of a leading book on Growth Hacking is hacking his own way on the international conference circuit as a key note speaker at high profile conferences in Singapore and Dubai.

Auckland based Mark Hayes is the founder of one of the world’s first dedicated growth hacking agencies and full service digital marketing consultancy, Rocketshp.  His book “The Growth Hacker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is full of practical advice for anyone wanting to grow business quickly using available and often free technology.

Growth Hacking is the process of rapid experimentation across marketing channels and product development to identify the most effective ways to grow a business.

While some see it as polarising and revolutionary the book written with Canadian and fellow growth hacker Jeff Goldenburg, brings it back to earth with 100 lessons on how to grow using technology.

“We wanted to make these tips available to anyone who is mystified by which tools to use to grow a business,” Hayes says.

“The book itself is a store of lessons for people to pick and choose what they need.  Growth hacking is a relatively new concept to New Zealand, but we think it’s essential for all marketers to have an understanding about its use and value.

“Internationally growth hacking is more well-known and some organisations are even advertising for growth hackers to join their team – it’s all about using technology to experiment and grow,” he says.

Over 10,000 copies of the book have been sold since publishing in March including a US venture capitalist being so impressed he bought 400 in one go for all his start-up companies.

Mark Hayes was a key note speaker at the LEAD Conference, Singapore, 5-6th October and will be speaking at The Customer Show Middle East, Dubai, 15-16 November.  He is also a speaker at the Deepdive Digital Marketing Weekend at the Grid, in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, 21-23 October.

His co-author Jeff Goldenberg is the Head of Growth at Borrowell, a leading Canadian online marketplace lender.

The book is the result of a blog written by Mark in 2015. Jeff read it and approached Mark about the book project, and after obtaining some Kickstarter funding, it was published about nine months later. The two wrote the book remotely and have never met in person.
