Kiwi skincare brand Essence of Humanity is donating 100 percent of its profits to orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya.
When Stacey Fraser heard about the poverty young children in Kenya were living in, she knew someone needed to help.
Previously a skincare developer for Trilogy, the Kapiti Coast resident decided to put her expertise to good use and create a skincare range that wasn’t just good for the skin, but good for humanity too.
Her dream has become a reality following the launch of Essence of Humanity, a New Zealand-based skincare range that donates 100 percent of its profits to orphanage projects in Kenya.
“Last week we signed a contract with So They Can, to sponsor one of their children’s homes in Kenya,” she beams, “I just can’t believe that it is really happening.”
Fraser is just one half of the Essence of Humanity duo and runs the company alongside the director of international aid agency So They Can and Wanaka resident, Cassandra Treadwell. Operating out of Kenya, So They Can has established 15 homes in Miti Mingi village, which provide orphans with quality education, nutritious meals, medical care and a loving community.
Treadwell explains that many of the children end up at the home after experiencing extreme poverty and deprivation. The co-founder says that with the financial support of Essence of Humanity, these children are given a second chance at life.
“Essence of Humanity supports children who through no fault of their own are victims of extreme poverty. It also provides a vehicle for all of us in the developed world to support the most vulnerable in the world in a personally enriching and nourishing way,” says Cassandra Treadwell.
