A new book aims to ‘beat the blues’ for business misfits – those people who like to break the rules, but don’t know it yet.
The past 18 months have been a difficult time for business owners. Covid has put pressure on not only cashflow, finances and daily operations, but also continues to fuel anxiety and mental wellbeing. Some of the hardest hit have been those that business coach Michelle Clarke, from Empowerment Empires, likes to call ‘misfits’ – people who don’t tend to fit in.
“It leads us to numb out and ignore our feelings,” she says, eventually resulting in higher rates of depression and anxiety-related conditions.
“Many question whether the grind is still worth it. But what’s actually needed is a new way of approaching what we do.”
Clarke’s book Woo Woo for Women in Business has been written for those who often feel like a round peg in a square hole, where the traditional ways of growing a successful business aren’t working.
Clarke wants more women in business to realise that their internal intuition is extremely powerful and leads to both success and joy.
“When our anxiety and stress is spiralling out of control, we tend to turn off our intuition. But that leads to working in ways that are not truly aligned to who we are, and that not only affects business it also leads to more anxiety and depression. By stepping back into our true nature and truly trusting our purpose in the world, it helps to resolve those negative feelings and allows us to experience more joy,” she says.
In her book, Clarke shares how to tame, tap in, and call forth that all-too-often dormant power inside women business owners who want to change the world.
