Conquering adversity ย
The common theme throughout this monthโs issue is one that every business entrepreneur can relate to Iโm sure.
I am, of course, referring to the word adversity.
Business is a tough gig โ no doubt about it โ and this is particularly highlighted in many of our feature stories this month.
For a start there is our cover story featuring the supreme winner of the 2019 David Awards, and some of the category winners.ย
The winner of the supreme award, Alex Watson of The Little Bone Broth Company in Christchurch, has put in a stellar effort to get his business off its feet, which has paid off with some spectacular growth.
Once again the David Awards demonstrated just how much adversity business owners have to contend with in order to realise their dreams. There is much to overcome when you launch out on your own, or with a business partner.
Thereโre tales of adversity in the magazineโs inspiration stories this month too โ read how the owners of Nelsonโs Gelato Roma went about building a business in a completely foreign land.ย
This month Grant Difford from Waking Giants looks at resilience in leadership โ which is really another take on dealing to adversity. Grant offers up some great advice on reducing the risk of business failure by being connected to an unwavering purpose as a leader.
Itโs all great food for thought โ and all great inspiration for when that next round of adversity comes along. Which it inevitably will!
And as if all the above is not enough, this month Pure SEOโs Richard Conway shares how his early business failures contributed to greater success further down the track. He took adversity by the horns and has come through in pretty good nick.
