Innovative electricity retailer, Flick Electric Co. has claimed top honours in the 2016 Hi-Tech Awards, announced in Auckland recently.
The Awards celebrate New Zealand’s most successful high-tech companies.
Flick Electric Co. won the Innovative Services category and were presented with the award at a gala dinner at the Viaduct Events Centre. Chief Executive Steve O’Connor dedicated the award to Flick’s customers.
“Creating value for our customers is what drives us – it’s the purpose of our innovation.  And customers taking up our service, engaging with our products, giving us feedback, and spreading the word are the things that have made us successful. An idea is nothing without customers.
“When we launched almost two years ago we wanted to give New Zealanders unprecedented fairness, transparency, choice, control and value in the electricity retail market. We’re delivering 18% average savings to our customers and have saved Kiwis more than $2m so far.
“What’s exciting is that this is just the beginning. We’ve got a strong innovation pipeline ahead and the team to make our dreams for customers a reality.” says O’Connor.
Using Flick’s world-first spot-based retail platform and personalised, online tools, Flick customers choose the price they want to pay for power.  Flick’s web and mobile apps and unique weekly billing system also give customers key information about their consumption and price patterns which inspires behavior change, helps with budgeting and avoids bill shock.
The Hi-Tech Awards are judged by more than 50 local and international judges who assessed entrants across the 12 award categories. The international judges include the likes of James Caan of Dragons’ Den fame; Pascal Finette, Head of Entrepreneurship at Singularity University and Linda Jenkinson, Chair of LesConcierges.
Flick was also a finalist in the Innovative Company and Emerging Company categories.
