The first stage of Bay of Plenty’s newest shopping destination is about to welcome locals and visitors to the thriving Tauriko area.

Tauranga Crossing’s stage one, open-air specialty shopping centre opens in September, anchored by Pak’n Save, The Warehouse, Noel Leeming and Warehouse Stationery. Over 20 specialty stores will also provide banking, dining, shopping, health and beauty services.

Just six kilometres from central Tauranga, at the intersection of SH29, SH36 and Takitimu Drive, Tauranga Crossing is designed to create an exciting hub for the growing community. It neighbours both the Tauriko Business Estate – the new workplace for over 5,000 people – and The Lakes residential estate, home to 7,000 residents upon completion.
Planning for the area began over 10 years ago and recent strong population growth has enabled this ambitious regional centre project to commence.

“With a population of around 120,000, Tauranga is New Zealand’s fifth largest and fastest growing area. It is also located in the heart of Bay of Plenty, which has an overall population of approximately 265,000. We started with a vision to create a new community hub to support the growth of the region, located where new homes and businesses are thriving. We also want to bring income and jobs to the community.” says Mark Taylor, Director of Tauranga Crossing Ltd.

Construction of the next stages of Tauranga Crossing will begin in 2017. Plans include an enclosed mall, new dining and entertainment concepts and an extended carpark.

The brand and architectural design of Tauranga Crossing is inspired by the legacy of the area’s sawmilling past and embraces the stories of the people who lived and worked there.
