Why does one particular business start-up succeed, while another seemingly similar one will fail?

In John Angell’s new book Be Your Own Boss and Succeed, he explains that the difference in business performance often comes down to the personal qualities the owners bring to their business.

Many books have been written about the steps to take before commencing business, along with the need for a business plan and budgets. But this book does not focus on any of these – rather Angell amplifies the key issue of the qualities a business owner needs to succeed and go on to make a major contribution to the wellbeing of their communities.

Learn the seven qualities of a successful small business owner, and test your business sense by ranking yourself against those qualities.

“If you can give yourself a tick for each of these then you deserve to take on business ownership with confidence,” writes Angell. “Many owners do not understand these qualities and regrettably join the 50 percent if businesses that fail in their first five years.”
