Bringing up children is one of life’s great challenges; another is starting a business. Some adventurous Kiwi women choose to do both, launching their own business while raising a family.
These entrepreneurial mothers are being asked to come forward as part of the Fly Buys Mumtrepreneur Awards, a new scheme for all women who have set up a business while bringing up kids at home.
From start-ups to companies gone global, the programme is open to businesses from any industry and is awarding 10,000 Fly Buys points to category winners and an additional 30,000 Fly Buys points to the Supreme Mumtrepreneur of the Year Award winner – enough for anything from a complete technology overhaul or return flights and accommodation for an overseas family holiday.
Fly Buys Chief Executive Officer Stephen England-Hall says the awards were set up to recognise mothers who have taken an entrepreneurial idea and turned it into a reality.
“We know the barriers to success for anyone starting a business are high, let alone for women whose focus and energy is also needed elsewhere in their lives.
“Fly Buys want to celebrate this group who are no doubt some of the busiest people in the country,” he says.
A supreme winner will be chosen from five category winners, including Best Product or Service, Best Online or Technology Business, Best Creative Business, Best Food and Beverage Business and the Best Agri Business.
Entrants will be judged by an expert panel that includes Trilogy co-founder and successful Mumtrepreneur, Catherine de Groot.
To apply or nominate someone who deserves an award, see mumtrepreneurawards.co.nz. Entries close on June 20th.
