Employers fighting for top talent in 2014
New Zealand will see declining unemployment, improving economic conditions and a rush for talent in 2014, according to the latest Global Salary Survey from specialist recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.
Now in its 15th year, the Robert Walters Global Salary Survey is the most comprehensive of its kind. Compiled by the company’s dedicated research team and covering all 24 countries and disciplines in which Robert Walters specialises, the latest edition offers an overview of salaries and recruitment trends from 2013, as well as those expected in 2014.
The survey found that hiring is likely to increase across the board this year, which will have a knock-on effect on candidate movement in the market as business confidence improves. Industries that will see increased hiring and salary rises include accounting and finance, construction and engineering and IT. Overall, permanent salaries are expected to rise by 3.58% when compared with figures from the 2013 Global Salary Survey.

Employers may need to look offshore for talent with continued skill shortages across both construction and engineering
