Masterton business wins Work-Life Diversity Award

At the 2018 Diversity Awards NZ, held at a gala dinner on August 29, Tim and Carissa Fairbrother’s business RIVAL Wealth won the Work Life Award.

Investment firm RIVAL Wealth is a Wairarapa-based business that’s committed to flexible work and has been able to support staff through everything from a broken ankle to terminal illness, while keeping the right people on board to grow the business.

At the 2018 Diversity Awards NZ, held at a gala dinner at the Cordis Auckland on August 29, Tim and Carissa Fairbrother’s business won the Work Life Award up against a number of significantly larger organisations.

RIVAL Wealth was founded in 2008 and ten years on has 2,800 clients and 17 staff. To accommodate potential staff members who couldn’t commit to working fulltime, the couple decided to offer flexible working arrangement to all their staff and create an excellent work-life balasnce in the process.

The 2018 Diversity Awards NZ™, recognising organisations that champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace, attracted a record 93 entries this year. The gala dinner was attended by more than 700 business representatives from the public and private sector and the Hon Carmel Sepuloni, Minister for Social Development and Disability Issues.
