A one-man band has been named the 2023 Supreme Winner in The David Awards, an annual online event which recognises small businesses successfully competing with the goliaths of New Zealand’s business landscape.

The Lifeworks Company, the umbrella under which public speaker, facilitator, online teacher and coach Glen Sharkey (pictured) operates, positions itself as achieving transformational results in courageous conversations, leadership (specialising in blue collar industries), effective communication, safety, presentation skills, corporate values, training the trainer and team building.

“Glen impressed the judges with his clear vision of where he is going and has the strategy to back it up,” says awards judge Diane Hurford. “He has a sound business model which has several income streams, a very strong brand and a very credible business.”

Co-judge Glenn Baker added, “This is a superb example of a high-performing one-man enterprise. The Lifeworks Company is a true David.”

Supreme winner Glen Sharkey, who also took out the Solo Meo award, says winning the Davids is both business-changing and life-changing. He is so thrilled to be the 2023 supreme winner.

“I work in a world where I have to champion myself. It’s absolutely huge for my business in terms of external endorsement.”
