Job-seekers and students have a unique opportunity to connect with potential employers at a speed-dating style event, ‘SpeedMeet’ on Wednesday 26 October in Auckland.
Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) and Got a Trade? Got it Made! have teamed up to bring the fast-paced, one-on-one, SpeedMeet event to MIT’s Pasifika Community Centre in south Auckland.
SpeedMeet will provide an interview situation where students and job-seekers get to spend six minutes with employers from more than 25 organisations across a range of industries that offer on-the-job training and exciting career opportunities.
Organisations represented include AB Equipment, Trucks and Trailers, Placemakers, Matrix Security, Wiri Auto Electrical and Batteries, Auckland Motor Alliance, Dempsey Wood Civil, West Lynn Paint & Panelbeaters, Hirepool and Auckland Council.
If during the six-minute interview there appears to be a ‘match’, both employers and job-seekers will have the opportunity to find out more by registering their interest to make further contact.
“Based on the success of last year’s SpeedMeet, which ended up with several job-seekers securing roles or workplace training contracts, we were keen to run the event again. SpeedMeet is also invaluable for students who may not have a clearly defined career path yet to talk to employers about what is available,” said Rachael Dippie from Got a Trade? Got It Made!
SpeedMeet is an initiative of Got a Trade? Got It Made!, a campaign to encourage more people into apprenticeships and workplace training. Industry Training Organisations participating in SpeedMeet represent a broad range of industries including automotive, construction, retail, engineering and manufacturing.
