Voyager founder Seeby Woodhouse returns as CEO

Voyager Internet has announced that its founder, Seeby Woodhouse, will return as Chief Executive Officer effective 1 October 2025, marking what the company calls “a significant new chapter” in its journey.

Woodhouse, who established Voyager in 2010 and led it through six years of rapid growth, says he’s “excited and energised” to step back into the top role.

“This is very much a next chapter, not a reset,” Woodhouse says.

“Voyager has strong momentum, and my focus will be on building on the existing strategy and continuing to deliver great outcomes for our customers and partners.”

The leadership change follows the departure of current CEO Deidre Steyn, who has been with Voyager for more than seven years, including since February 2024 in the chief executive role. Under her tenure, the company strengthened sales, embedded a customer-first culture, and moved into a new phase of growth. Steyn will now join Amazon Web Services in a senior role.

Woodhouse paid tribute to her impact, saying: “I want to personally thank Deidre for the energy, focus, and leadership she’s brought to Voyager. She has made a real difference and leaves the business in a stronger position. While we are sad to see her go, we’re proud that a global company like AWS has recognised her world-class talent. On behalf of the Voyager team and our customers, I wish her every success in this exciting next chapter.”

Reflecting on her own time with the company, Steyn describes her leadership of Voyager as “an absolute privilege.”

“I am incredibly proud of the momentum we’ve built together and the way the team has continued to put customers at the heart of everything we do,” she say. “While it is bittersweet to be moving on, I know Voyager is in great hands with Seeby returning as CEO.”

Voyager confirmed that its strategic direction remains unchanged, with an ongoing focus on Cloud, Communication, Connectivity and Cybersecurity services for businesses across New Zealand.
