There’s a new attractive player in the -$50K electric vehicle market. Designed for urban living, the GWM Haval Ora is the latest electric hatchback that’s the total package.

GWM Haval’s brand awareness and trust have been surging steadily in NZ and Australia. The company aims to succeed in these markets by delivering intelligent products and new energy designs. From the latest figures, the company’s sales in January 2023 are up by 25% compared to the same time last year.

Easily zip around the inner city with the sleek and compact Ora. It balances a spunky retro design with cutting-edge technology. Plus, it’s powered solely by electricity resulting in a super smooth and quiet ride.

Let’s bust open the hood and take a look at the engine. It features a single electric motor with 126kW power plus 250Nm torque. This hatchback can deliver some serious muscle with the ability to go from 0 to 100km/h in roughly 8 seconds.

You’ll have the option to choose between two battery sizes. The smaller of the two is a 48kWh lithium ion battery that delivers a whopping 310 km of driving range and doesn’t sacrifice on performance or acceleration.

The pricier Ora Extended model features the bigger 64kWh lithium ion battery that allows for up to 420 km of driving range. Ideal for simple navigation around bustling city streets. Built to last, the Ora provides a 5-year warranty and bang for your buck.

Fully equipped with all the latest tech features, the GWM Haval Ora makes for a comfortable and convenient driving experience. Keyless entry, a 10.25″ colour touchscreen and automatic retro-influenced LED headlights are standards for all Ora models. A wireless phone charging port in the front and rear USB ports are practical touches.

The car starts with a simple “intuitive start”, which means it’s ready to drive from the moment it’s unlocked, and someone’s in the driver’s seat. Ora’s single-pedal drive mode is a valuable feature that allows the car to slow down gently rather than suddenly. It’ll help make the daily commute stress-free and stop-start city driving smoother.

Ora’s interiors are some of the most impressive and unique on the market. They’re a mix of futuristic design with vintage chic and minimal buttons. Plush textured leatherette seats match the exterior paint job for maximum style. GWM Haval has a reputation for designing vehicles with spacious cabins, and the Ora is no different. The backseat area is exceptionally roomy.

How safe is the Ora? It’s been awarded a 5-star ANCAP safety rating in 2023, with high scores in the 90s for adult passenger protection. The hatchback features seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian & cyclist detection. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and lane centre assist make driving on crowded city roads simpler.

As well as being a good-looking electric car, the GWM Haval Ora gives peace of mind. Drive with confidence wherever you’re heading with its 5-year roadside assistance guarantee. It’s an appealing proposition, especially for those living in an urban environment.
