Tech Venture Agency Southern Software is demonstrating how new tech companies can be created in the QT lakes region by solving simple, everyday problems.

Southern Software are making it easier to connect, through the widely used technology of QR Codes by launching a free tool to instantly store business card information in a new contacts phone, meaning everyone can finally ditch physical business cards.

These QR codes store your contact information and when scanned by another phone, will add the contact details to the receiving phone’s phonebook. Meaning no more lost business cards or typing details out.

QR codes are now commonplace in our covid world, with a QR code posted on every building we visit. QR codes are now scanned over 2,000,000 times a day through the covid app*, so everyone is very familiar with the technology.

“It feels like magic when you scan the code and your contact pops up. It’s a conversation starter and adds a bit of spice to networking events,” says developer Oliver.

Though this is not a new technology, Southern Software has built a ‘NoCode’ flow that lets you easily make your own QR code contact card and have it emailed straight to your phone. Southern Software founder Duncan Faulkner says: “Southern Software’s goal is to transform our region’s economy and environment through digital tech”.

“Many businesses share common problems, and may not realise they could create successful tech companies by solving those problems for the rest of the world.

‘We thought replacing business cards could be a novel way to get people thinking about their own billion dollar idea,” says Faulkner.

You can make your own QR contact code for free by scanning the QR Code attached or by visiting www.southernsoftware.nz/qrcode
