The annual Franchise Conference in August is a ‘don’t miss’ for anyone looking at franchising their business.
One of the biggest stories of the year has been the sale of Napier-based Fastway Couriers to a global company based in Dubai for $125 million. Now there's a chance to hear how it was achieved at this year’s annual Franchise Conference on 4-5 August. Fastway managing director Bruce Speers will be sharing some of the experiences behind Fastway’s international expansion and the sale process in an International Achievers panel session at the conference.
Another top achiever on the panel will be Tim Alpe, co-founder of tourism brand JUCY. Another $100m-plus company, JUCY operates rental cars, campervans, hotels and a cruise company across New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
Stuart Deeks is also no stranger to international success, having entered franchising as a master franchisee for Esquires in New Zealand before taking over the whole franchise and expanding it into the Middle East and China – with a public listing along the way.
And Aaron Toreson has successfully franchised the business that sells franchises. Link Business originated in New Zealand and, under Aaron's leadership, has expanded into Australia, South Africa, the USA and has just announced a deal to open offices in The Philippines.
‘This amazing panel represents a rare opportunity for franchisors and would-be entrepreneurs to hear from home-grown Kiwis who have developed international franchises worth hundreds of millions of dollars,’ says Robyn Pickerill, CEO of the Franchise Association. ‘Whether you are planning to go overseas or not, their stories of building successful franchises will attract and inspire you.’
Other speakers include Chris Brown, McDonald’s Director of Marketing, Jewli Turier of the Franchise Relationships Institute, and Michael Eyre of the European Franchise Federation.
The Conference takes place in Tauranga on 4-5 August 2016. Go to for more info.
