It’s been a while coming, but The Little Adventure is delighted to announce the arrival of its first pure New Zealand wool baby basket – Sleepnest™.
“We’ve been flat out,” says Blythe Rees-Jones, director and founder, “firstly designing, developing and certifying a highly innovative, natural wool material we call ‘Naturesclip’, and secondly as new parents, transforming this beautiful material into a range of pure sleep and play products for baby and toddlers.”
The Sleepnest recently picked up bronze at the Best Design Awards.
The brainchild of Blythe and Anna Rees-Jones, and Luke Morreau (three product, child development, and design and advertising professionals) The Little Adventure is an exciting new brand in the world of wool, nursery products and playrooms.
Their story began when they started having families of their own. “It was then that we realised what was actually in the products we were buying our little ones. To us it’s unthinkable to make products with questionable materials that could be harmful to the health and wellbeing of children, but that’s what’s happening,” says Blythe. “In New Zealand we have this abundant natural resource called wool. Naturally safe, it’s the perfect ingredient for making products for littlies. International research has even shown how wool next to skin helps regulate body temperature – perfect for babies trying to save energy for weight gain and other key developmental functions," he says.
Knowing this they embarked on their own little adventure – to create fun, engaging products, rich with the natural benefits of wool and sustainably made with responsible manufacturing practices.
Designed as the perfect haven for baby to snuggle up in, Sleepnest features flexible soft-to-touch sides which help soften ambient sound and dampen harsh light inside the nest. And it’s simple twin panel design ensures baby is fully cupped and supported during carrying.
So what’s next?
With a love of wool, and a passion for play, the team at The Little Adventure are working hard to develop a range of nature inspired products for you and your little ones," says Blythe. "Having had a peak in the tree hut this is one adventure you won’t want to miss."
