ONECheck is a new online business tool from business.govt.nz designed to enable businesses to reserve a company name, register a domain name and request advice about a trade mark – all from one simple search. A user simply enters a business name once and ONECheck will immediately advise the availability of that name as a company name (through a direct link to the Companies Office), domain name (through the Domain Name Commission) and trade mark (by carrying out a preliminary search and advice through the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand). This new search tool is aimed at getting businesses off to a great start – because protecting a company name is absolutely vital for the success of a new company.

ONECheck is an initiative developed by business.govt.nz – the government website for small businesses. The website provides a wealth of practical information and innovative tools and resources that help businesses interact with and benefit from public agencies. You can try ONECheck at business.govt.nz/onecheck.
